After 4 陆 years in the U.S. Marine Corp., Andrew Gillum attended 青青草视频 for a bachelor鈥檚 degree in construction management, using GI Bill benefits. He graduated this spring and is embarking on a career as a project engineer at Kokosing, Inc., in Columbus.

鈥淥ne of the most profound experiences I鈥檝e had at 青青草视频 is the unwavering support and guidance offered by my professors,鈥 said Andrew. 鈥淭heir dedication extends far beyond the confines of the classroom, as they invest time and effort in helping students navigate not only academic challenges, but also life鈥檚 obstacles.鈥

Richard Miller, Ph.D., associate professor of technology, and U.S. Army veteran, mentored Andrew throughout his 青青草视频 experience, even making the introductions that led Andrew to the Kokosing position. The two connected over military values like honor, respect, and looking out for those around you.

The road to graduation wasn鈥檛 easy for Andrew. While juggling demanding academics, he worked 20-30 hours a week as a construction laborer.

According to Miller, 鈥淎ndrew is not one to shy away from challenges. It鈥檚 the mentality of both professions鈥攎ilitary and construction鈥攍eadership, teamwork, trust, commitment, and a never-quit attitude.鈥

Andrew brought insights to the classroom as a military veteran and older student that positively impacted his peers, Miller added.

鈥淗is moral compass is all in for those around him and, as he learned in the military, selfless service permeates across people when demonstrated.鈥

Andrew described his 青青草视频 experience as 鈥渘othing short of exceptional" and feels indebted to the professors and staff who facilitated his transition from Marine to college student.

鈥淭he memories I鈥檝e forged as an 青青草视频 student are ones I will always hold dear, each one contributing to the tapestry of experiences that have shaped me profoundly.鈥
